MIDGET giraffe is a global online destination for fashion-forward, bold African print lovers. In 2014, founders Corey Harris (American) and Linda Omeni (Nigerian) started creating custom pieces from their homes in East Orange, New Jersey. The name is inspired by the union of two opposite perspectives, to create something entirely unique and different – African print clothing cut in highly curated western styles. The shop continues to grow as an international style source offering both new and vintage clothing.

blokes n divas

It all started with the belief ‘’life is a runway and we are all top models’’. Wise words to say the least as the philosophy behind Blokes n Divas is in changing the perception behind African fashion; in taking it from a costume collector’s piece to a regular wardrobe feature. The label is run by Teddy Legbedion and Patrick Osaghae; both non-fashion graduates who are blessed with an overwhelming sense of style and creativity. The label has carved a niche for itself in the rapidly changing industry; gracing the runways in notable world fashion capitals. Their design is inspired by the vibrant colors deeply rooted in nature, excerpts from African folklore, proud cultural diversities and long forgotten design arts. Fusing this essence together, Blokes n Divas creates an unmistakable wearable style which exudes strength, charm and grace!

Ms. O – an accountant with a passion for fashion, is the lead creative director at RFD. Her fashion journey began during a trip to Nigeria. While there on vacation, she absolutely loved the wide variety of fabrics which showcased the vibrancy of prints and the richness of laces. That trip sparked her love of fabrics and her interest in designing.

Upon her return, she sought out to create a portal whereby fashion lovers can shop an outfit while being involved in the designing stages. That idea birthed a platform where RFD customers select a fabric of choice and subsequently have a style designed for detailed tailoring.  The same portal also provides our fashionistas with readily available collections.

In essence, RFD customers get to have lovely pieces delivered while enjoying the comfort of their humble abode. This virtual experience is coined – the RFDExperience.

Ms. O draws her creative inspiration from fabric patterns, social lifestyles and art in all facets of life. These sources of inspiration enable her to turn unique fabrics into sophisticated designs to the delight of many.  Her inspiration for RFD is fused by her desire to share her passion for culture through art, textile and design.

Through its journey in the fashion industry, RFD has since been featured in a few magazines and online portals such as – BHF, African Vibe Magazine and Talenthouse, to mention a few. RFD designs have also graced runways such as BHF debut trunk show, NEA Fashion show, Apinke, TUM, Vibe Magazine Fashion show and many other nationwide shows in New York, Boston, Maryland, Washington DC and Los Angeles.

Joley Couture

The dream, JOLEY COUTURE was birthed in 2010 out of a desire to bridge the gap between contemporary chic and african elegance. We started out by making customized outfits for friends and family based on request. Soon, word spread and our client base grew, necessitating a mini exhibition in Las Vegas in 2013 for ready-to-wear outfits.

Joley Couture seeks to carve a niche for itself and become a force in contemporary Afrocentric designs without compromising on excellence in its delivery. We are your source for chic and elegant Couture and ready to wear pieces. Our foundation is rooted also in the Bible verse Psalms 50:2.

The creative director behind Joley Couture is Jane Makinwa (nee Ogbe). The former Miss International Nigeria who has represented Nigeria at different international pageants has also modeled for several fashion designers as a runway model.
